The Hoot Scoot 5K & 1 Mile, Running for Reading, shares in the sadness and shock that has come from the tragedy in Boston. Next Friday, April 26, we will come together and unite as runners, walkers, volunteers and spectators for the 5th Annual Hoot Scoot and in doing so, show our support for all those injured or killed in this tragic event.

The
Fairhope Public Library Foundation (FHPLF) will hold its 5th
annual Hoot Scoot on Friday,
April 26 at 6:30pm.
Owls of all ages will take to the streets in their Glow in the Dark
race t-shirts, running through the beautiful neighborhoods of
Downtown Fairhope. At the finish line, runners will be welcomed by a
party under the stars - the Fairhope Library lawn will be filled with
food, beverages, music and dancing with our race mascot, the Owl!

By
popular demand, this year’s race will again offer awards for both
prediction and speed. Awards will be given to the top five male and
females who come closest to predicting their times in the 5K, and to
the three fastest males and female finishers. All those registered in
the 1 mile fun run / walk will receive participation prizes. In
addition to the individual awards, the school with the most
registered runners will receive a $500 gift certificate to help
purchase books for their school library. All race proceeds benefit
the Fairhope Public Library.
The
Fairhope Public Library Foundation was established in July 2008 to
develop public and private financial support for the Fairhope Public
Library. Through fundraising events such as the Hoot Scoot, the
library is able to provide services, programs, equipment, and
materials needed to realize its full potential as a preeminent
educational, intellectual and cultural center of Fairhope.
